Project Overview
The relationship between a group of buildings now known as The Woodward Hotel + Quill Bar was years in the making. Primarily utilized throughout their history as offices, restaurant storage, and miscellaneous alley-facing buildings. The challenge was to combine them into a harmonious arrangement of unique Air BnB style hotel rooms, some of which were directly on the street-front and some which overlooked dilapidated roofs. Working in partnership with Robinson Home Interior Design, the design team evaluated each room’s views, access to natural daylight and the arrangement of unique historic features. Quill Bar finds its inspiration from traditional Southern authors and features a speak-easy style ground floor bar with access to a new rooftop lounge area via stairs created through in-filling a nondescript alley building with a materially raw stair inside the open restored brick structure and bridge to the rooftop seating / gathering area. This project utilized Georgia and Federal Historic Tax Credits. It was awarded a Commercial Renovation Award by Historic Macon Foundation.
